Chris Atkinson made a disappointing exit from the Rally of Sardinia after hitting two rocks that were in the middle of the road, making an off-road excursion unavoidable.
"It’s been another tough rally. I don’t like to make excuses, but it was almost as if somebody had put the rocks there," Atkinson said.
"We came around a blind corner and there were two big rocks in the middle of the road, right on the line. I suppose it was a good job it was on a relatively slow section, as the damage doesn’t seem too bad, but there was absolutely nothing we could do about it. I think the car will be fine and we’ll be able to get back out again tomorrow.
"We’ve got to keep moving forward with the development of the car and our performance. We’ve seen today that there’s still room for improvement and that’s the main focus,” he added.
