Another of rallying’s elder statesmen has left us, with the passing of respected event organiser Alan Patterson.
Best remembered for his ground-breaking WIN TV Rally in the Valley in the 1990s, Alan was also a successful competitor and a friend to all who came into contact with him.
His Rally in the Valley was a ‘must do’ event for Victorian crews with a two-day format and unique stages around Traralgon that included stages through the Loy Yang open-cut mine.
In later years he used his vast experience as a steward on events. He was a member of the Victorian Rallying Hall of Fame.
He passed away with his wife, Susan, by his side, along with his daughters and grandchildren.
