The Western Australian rallying community is mourning the loss of long-time competitor Gerry McGroarty.
A native Scotsman, McGroarty had been a competitor at both state and national level for the best part of four decades, even competing in the original Rally Australia Trial event back in 1988.
The likeable McGroarty drove Subaru RX Turbos, Toyota Sprinters and Mitsubishi Galants and Lancers in an impressive career.
In recent years he was back behind the wheel of two-wheel drive cars, competing in Western Australia, and also at the Otago Rally in New Zealand.
He passed away suddenly on August 20 and will be remembered at an open memorial service next Thursday, September 5.
