Henk Kabel was a stalwart of the Brisbane Sporting Car Club and a member of the Queensland Rally Hall of Fame.

He was awarded Life Membership to the club he served in 1975, but continued on his work for the club for many years after that.

“It is with deep sadness that we advise our members and the rallying community in general of the passing of one of our longest serving members, Henk Kabel, who passed away peacefully on Friday night, aged 89,” the Brisbane Sporting Car Club said.

“Henk was a stalwart of the Club joining as a member in 1959 and serving many Board and Organisational roles throughout the ensuing years, culminating with his nomination of Life Membership in 1975.

“Henk’s huge involvement within the rallying fraternity saw him sponsor Queensland rallying through Stones Corner Motors and later the Keema Automotive Group. A most worthy inaugural member of the Queensland Rally Hall of Fame, he helped to nurture the sport to the extent we enjoy today.

“On behalf of the Board of the Brisbane Sporting Car Club we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family.”

RallySport Magazine also wishes to send condolences to Henk’s family and friends.
