Shinozuka was the inaugural Asia Pacific Rally Champion in 1988 and became synonymous with the Mitsubishi brand throughout his successful career.
He contested Australia's Southern Cross International Rally on four occasions and became hugely popular with local spectators. Together with co-driver Garry Connelly, his best result in that event was fourth in 1977.
