Parker was also a contributor to Australian Rallysport News in the early days, and died late on Boxing Day after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

“We’ve lost a good friend and co-driver for myself and Dad (Martin),” Nathan Quinn said.

“Wayne was a state championship winning co-driver in the 80s, and also acquired by Mazda RX2 and sold it to me in the deal of the century.

“He was a real gentleman of the sport.”

Many others from the NSW rally fraternity have also remembered Wayne Parker with fondness.

Chris Giddins: Such sad news condolences to Wayne’s family a very passionate motorsport person. May your wheels keep turning.

Alan Vaughan: Very sad to hear Colin, good bloke gone too soon.

Jo Cadman: What a Coast Motorsport legend. Another sad loss of our Motorsport family.

Peter Harris: Wow. Wayne really helping Peter Anderson and I when we first started out. Sad day for the sport and especially his family.

Howard Grove: Wayne was a great organiser and a great fellow – hadn’t seen him for ages since the “mike bell” era and all those great central coast events – so sad.

Brett Middleton: That’s sad, Wayne was always amazing at PR and events. I remember him notably for the attendance of ch9 at the Amaroo rallysprint.

RallySport Magazine sends its condolences to his wife Kaye and their extended family.
