After missing the first round on the tarmac, Scouts Rally SA will be Velocity Racing’s debut SARC event for 2010.
For driver Lewis Parin and co-driver Sarah Parin, it will be their first time in the car together since finishing in equal first place at the SA Rallysprint Championship in October 2009, and they intend on continuing that solid performance.
Rally SA 2009 was a frustrating event for the team. They blew a head gasket during the pre-event shakedown but still managed to set some decent times considering a serious lack of power and problems with the car overheating. Unfortunately they finished the first day on the back of the trailer after rolling through a famer’s paddock. Their family and friends found the in-car video of the crash quite amusing, and have been quoting it ever since. Sarah: “You ok?” Lewis: “Yeah, but clearly the notes are wrong…”
“We had a pretty shocking year in 2009 with lots of mechanical issues and driving errors,” said Lewis, “something which we definitely intend on rectifying this year.” “We are aiming to set consistently quick stage times and bring the car home in one piece,” Sarah added.
Velocity Racing would like to make a special thank you to Mike Dale Automotive “without Mike’s help we definitely would not be out there!” Thanks must also go to Infinity Signs and SA Motorsport Tyres.
