Spectators at this weekend's Rally of Canberra are eagerly awaiting the appearance of a new marque. Appearing for the first time in this year's Australian Rally Championship will be the VW Polo S2000 of Queenslanders Marius Swart and Gerald McConkey.

Swart imported the Polo after clinching a deal with the South African VW Works team, and the car arrived in Australia in November.  It comes with a great pedigree, having regularly dominated the South African Toyota Corollas, Subaru WRX STis and Mitsubishi Lancers in local competition.

Naturally Swart is enthusiastic about his Australian debut.  "There is a very exciting year ahead for both Gerard and myself," he said. "The design principals and build quality of the Polo is absolutely world class and we can't wait to get out there in the forest and get on it with it."
