Where it all began: 2000 Hyundai Accent World Rally Car

Hyundai’s i20 WRC is now a chance to win every round of the World Rally Championship, but that wasn’t always the case for Hyundai’s World Rally Cars.

Back in September 1999, the Korean make launched their first World Rally Car – the Accent – with Kenneth Eriksson and Alister McRae leading the team’s WRC assault.

We look back on the release of the Accent WRC, the technology in the car, and even chat to Australian Wayne Bell about his role in Hyundai’s emergence on the rally scene.
