The WRC Promoter is awaiting updates from the relevant government authorities as to whether the upcoming rallies can go ahead.
Rally Argentina has been postponed while the scheduled fifth and sixth rounds of the series in Portugal and Italy, are also highly unlikely.
“Governments in Portugal and Italy have announced a state of emergency and the Schengen borders are closed in both countries,” the WRC statement said.
“Movement is currently severely restricted in Portugal for the next two weeks while Italy remains under lockdown.
“Planning for both Vodafone Rally de Portugal (21 – 24 May) and Rally Italia Sardegna (4 – 7 June) continues and FIA and WRC Promoter will make no decisions until updates on the emergency status are available from Governments in each country.”
The hard-working team continues to remain positive, with plans to run as many events as possible.

“We remain committed to continuing with as many rallies as we can either on their current date, or where possible, a rescheduled date.

“A WRC event can be a difficult event to change given the many logistical, environmental, road/forest access and even weather conditions, but all efforts will be made to run as many events as possible.

“There is a duty of care to all stakeholders including fans, drivers, teams, media, suppliers and others to protect not only ourselves but also the wider community, and this remains our key focus.”
