Disappointing news from WRC Promoter with the cancellation of their official presentation of the 2020 team line-up,.
This was due to be held in Birmingham in January, but was cancelled following Toyota Gazoo Racing’s decision not to attend.
This follows the recent cancellation of the 2019 Rally Australia, the enforced reduction of the 2020 WRC calendar to 13 events (although Chile is still officially listed), and the loss of Citroen Racing as a WRC competitor, leaving only three competing teams.
Announced at the same time were the decisions of the World Motor Sport Council confirming in principle the plans to allow hybrid cars in the 2022 WRC series, but with controlled equipment and the option to allow silhouette re-sized lookalike production based cars with space frame chassis.
In regional championship rallying, the calendar for the Nacam championship includes a round in Cuba, the first FIA championship rally in that country.
The FIA Asia Pacific regional series will again be run as an end of season single event, but this time in Australia.
