Competitors for both programs had to meet specific assessment criteria, including age, past performance and demonstration of an interest in pursuing an international motor sport career. Â
According to CAMS' Member Services and Development Manager, Quentin Crombie, the self nomination process allows young motor sport competitors to be proactive in the management of their careers. Â
"We received a large number of applications for both programs this year and after much deliberation we selected those who we believe to be the cream of young and up-and-coming rally and female competitors in Australia. We are hopeful that these competitors will become regulars on the international stage in the foreseeable future." Â
The 2007 CAMS Women's Driver Development Program consists of the following squad members:
* Victoria Whitley (Queensland) - Karting
* Jessica Golding (Queensland) - Karting
* Molly Taylor (New South Wales) - Rally
* Kira Douglas (Victoria) - Rally Â
The 2007 CAMS Rally Driver Development Program consists of the following squad members:
* Paul Batten (Victoria)
* Glen Raymond (Victoria)
* Mitchell Hall (South Australia)
* Brendan Reeves (Victoria)
* Brendon Thomas (New South Wales) Â
The intensive two-day camp will take place at the AIS in Canberra in early March 2007, with both groups scheduled to attend a follow-up camp again in June. The AIS program focuses on elements of nutrition, physiology, psychology, strength and conditioning, and media training. Â
