4WDWorld.com.au, the web-based 4WD accessory business owned by classic rally enthusiast Ed Mulligan, has been announced as the naming rights sponsor for this year’s event.

Mulligan, a long time rally driver, has provided support for the popular event which is conducted in the Northern Rivers of NSW, close to where 4WD World is based.

The 2012 4WD World Border Ranges Rally will be conducted on fast gravel roads in the Woodenbong and Urbenville areas on 25th August.

Entrants include a large contingent of classic rally competitors in spectacular Escort BDAs, including 5 time Australian Champion Ross Dunkerton, plus Stewie
Reid, Keith Fackrell and Keith Callinan.  Local driver Ed Mulligan has a similar MK2 Escort that is likely to be a crowd favourite with his legendary sideways driving style.

Other classics include Troy O’Dohertys TR7 V8 Triumph, several Mazda RX7s plus Datsun Stanzas and Toyota Celicas.

The event is a round of the 2012 MEX Software QLD Rally Championship and the 2012 MEX Software Sportsman Series.  This will ensure a quality field of turbo 4WD rally cars with some of Australia’s best state level rally competitors  behind the wheel.

These include Ian Menzies, Rob Bishop, Paul Andrews, Ross Cox, Paul Williamson and Mike Bailey.

Details of the event can be found on the Gold Coast Tweed Motorsport Club website www.gctmc.org.au
