Australian Rally Grand Final proposed

A joint proposal by the combined State Rally Panels and the Australian Rally Commission (ARCom) to present an end-of-year grand final shootout for invited state rally championship competitors, has met with general approval since the recent release of the proposed event.

Based on a proposal from South Australian, Graham Holding, the idea is to invite all those competitors who compete in every round of their State Rally Championship or state series, to compete by invitation in an end-of-year shoot-out over two days at a regional venue yet to be decided. Competitors would compete to determine the best crew overall and would compete in a tough day-night format event against other state crews.

The radical idea is seen as a way of encouraging talented crews to step up to the plate while at the same time getting a chance to prove themselves in the heat of top level competition. Interested parties are asked to complete the survey at the address listed below so that the idea can be moved on to the next stage in readiness for the event’s proposed introduction in 2008.
