Scouts Rally SA has partnered with the Sammy D Foundation to help spectators at the Gawler Showgrounds Super Special Stage have a great night out.
The Sammy D Foundation will bring their Great Night Out bus to the Gawler Showgrounds on Saturday 2 August and Sunday 3 August. Young people will be encouraged to record video blogs about the issues they face when going out and what having a safe, Great Night Out means to them.
By raising awareness of the consequences of alcohol-fuelled violence and through education programs the Foundation aims to empower young people to make safe, positive choices.
It is anticipated that leading East Coast Bullbars Australian Rally Championship competitors will also record video blogs to help encourage young people to get involved and make good decisions about a night out.
In addition, the Sammy D Foundation becomes the new charity partner of Scouts Rally SA, raising funds to continue their work with youth to encourage positive life choices.
Nat Cook, Executive Director of the Sammy D Foundation said “we would like to thank Scouts Rally SA for their support of the Foundation and of the Great Night Out initiative. We think the event is a great fit for our organisation and look forward to working with the Town of Gawler, and the motorsport community in August.”
Ivar Stanelis, Scouts Rally SA Clerk of Course said “We’re thrilled to have the Sammy D Foundation on board with Scouts Rally SA this year. Alcohol fuelled violence is a growing concern in the community and we are glad that we can provide the Sammy D Foundation with a suitable platform to promote this message.”
The Sammy D Foundation joins a roster of strong community organisations including Scouts SA, Fresh FM 92.7, the Town of Gawler and Gawler community service organisations, working with Scouts Rally SA and the 700 strong volunteer army.
Scouts SA CEO Dan Ryan said “Scouts is about helping young people to be the best they can be. With over 100 years of success stories, we work hard at encouraging and nurturing youth aged 6-26 to take their place in society as solid, resilient young people who will be the future leaders of our communities. This is achieved through an adventurous, challenging and fun range of programs delivered at over 110 locations around the State. We are delighted to support the group of other community organisations committed to this wonderful event.”
