Victorian driver, Alan Roe, will contest all rounds of this year’s Australian Rally Championship in a new Ford Focus ST that he has spent the past year building.

Roe has built the car to Production Rally Car (PRC) regulations, with a 2-litre turbocharged engine fitted with a Sadev 6-speed sequential gearbox.

“Jamie Drummond has done a lot of work on developing complete upright assemblies, suspension and steering arms for the car, and former rally man, Andrew Vibert, has spent the last few months working tirelessly on the car,” Roe told RallySport Mag.

“It’s great to have someone with his experience involved in the car building.

“We can't say too much about our major sponsor for this year, but it will be from the automotive industry.”

For the season opener, the National Capital Rally in Canberra, the experienced Ben Searcy will be in the co-driver’s seat, but gun driver Steve Glenney will also be co-driving in the car at some events.

“We will be competing in the ARC 2WD championship, and if it works I would like to get to a couple of Victorian Championship events as well,” Roe added.

This will be the first front-wheel drive car that Roe has competed in, and finishing events is his immediate goal. He has no set goals or expectations for the season ahead.

“I have completed one day of testing at Winton race track, just as a shakedown. The car was fantastic to drive.”

Roe has also spent time with international star, Brendan Reeves, tapping into the Rally America 2WD Champion’s experience and knowledge.
