The 2017 Pipe King Southern Cross Rally Series, conducted by AMSAG, has expanded to include six rounds.

With two events each to the west, south and north of Sydney, AMSAG hopes to attract new and existing competitors for this exciting new-look season.

Events on the Mid-North Coast at Bulahdelah and Johns River fill out the back end of the season, with a second event west of Sydney at Orange in August.

In line with the relaxed nature of the series, there is no registration fee, and all competitors are eligible to score points.

AMSAG’s popularity continues to grow in NSW as many competitors choose to align themselves to the long-running series, now in its 22nd year.

The regulations have, for the most part, remained unchanged for the past seven years, with the club resisting the introduction of most limitations, instead allowing the competitors freedom of choice when it comes to safety equipment and vehicle modifications above and beyond the minimum standard.

Safety and vehicle preparation standards are still of paramount importance to AMSAG, with competitors able to enter either the Classic or Open category.

AMSAG Classics are naturally-aspirated pre-1991 2WD vehicles such as Australian rallying stalwarts the Datsun 1600 and Ford Escort. The Open category consists of mostly modern vehicles, such as 4WD Mitsubishi Evo and Subaru WRX, or 2WD Nissan Silvia and Hyundai Excels.

It also caters for those vehicles that don’t comply to AMSAG Classic regulations such as Subaru Legacy and Mitsubishi VR4, and also non-traditional vehicles such as turbocharged Datsun 1600s.

AMSAG competitor and safety information is available at www.amsag.com.au

Competitors can enter online for the Oberon Rally via the event page, with the entry fee being set at $400.
