The Australian Rally Commission (ARCom) is currently seeking expressions of interest in running a round of the Australian Rally Championship in 2007.

ARCom has already received interest from several parties in New South Wales and Tasmania in regards to running a new-look round next year.

ARCom Chairman Garry Connelly said that there is an option to add a round to the current six-round Super Series or replace an existing round, or both, in 2007.

"We are already talking to two parties in New South Wales who have expressed interest in running an ARC round in their state next year, however we want to assess all possibilities before we make a decision on the 2007 ARC calendar. " Connelly said.

"Any new events will have to consider the dates for existing rounds on the calendar, but we will welcome proposals for both gravel and tarmac rallies.

"Ideally the championship should have rounds in each state however nothing would preclude having more than one round in one of the more populated states."

As part of the selection process, any proposed event not currently a round may have to run a trial event between now and the end of the year, in order to demonstrate the appropriate standard of organisation.

Formal expressions of interest will be accepted until September 30th 2006 and all enquiries should be directed to CAMS Rally Manager, Campbell Andrea on (03) 9593 7777 or rally@cams.com.au.
