- 7th March 2017, 9:34pm
The opening road of the national Rally Argentina series takes place this coming weekend at Tafi del Valle, run in the hills behind the northern city of Tucuman.
Although the special locally built Maxi Rally cars have been run and exported since last year, this will be the first Argentine championship rally to admit turbocharged versions of the Maxi Rally.
Recently seen testing was the championship-winning Tango Rally team with their Chevrolet Agile Maxi Rally Turbo 1.6.
Marcos Ligato, who won the drivers’ title in 2016 and is the head of the Tango team, said that they used: “The engine we have been working on since last year. We made several kilometres and draw conclusions that help us continue to know this new engine.
“This year, for the first time, will integrate the general classification of each race and add points for the major division.”
