Following a recent test session young Egyptian rally driver Khaled Nasser has chosen experienced Australian co-driver Kent Bedford to partner him for his 2008 World Rally Championship program.
“Kent has previously worked successfully with my team manager several years ago and so it was logical that we invited him to test to be my co-driver,” Khalid said
“I have never before had a regular co-driver, so this is a major step forward in my career now.”
“It was obvious right from the first day that Kent and I go along very well in the car, and I am very happy with how much we achieved in the six days of testing.”
The team tested two of their Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX cars on gravel roads for six days and successfully completed over 1400 kilometres without any problems. Their work focused on suspension setup and they also tested the various tread patterns and compounds of their Pirelli tyres.
Work continues on the construction of their first tarmac car, and the team plans to test this car on tarmac in late October as they prepare for Khaled’s World Rally Championship debut at the 2008 Rallye Monte Carlo. This will be the first of twelve world championship rallies that Khaled will contest in 2008 as he seeks to gain more experience.
