With just over a week until the final round of the Australian Rally Championship, the Rally of Melbourne, the Baker Motorsport team is working hard to prepare their Daihatsu Charade for the event.

With the engine going into the car on Sunday night after a big weekend of work by the team of Andrew, Lloyd and Ray, everyone is pleased with the way the car is coming together.

This has been a major rebuild of the car with just about everything rebuilt after the season destroying crash at Rally of Canberra.  Everything has been done in-house by the team, with some help from Richard Hellyer fixing the body damage.  The car will be sporting a new colour scheme for Rally of Melbourne, with our major sponsors “NSW Bearings” having pride of place down both sides of the car.

The Rally of Melbourne has been something that driver Ray Baker has wanted to do for many years. As an ex-Melburnian, he says it is good to be coming home.  It will also be the first time that many of Baker’s family will see him compete as a driver.

This will be Baker’s last event as a driver as next year he will be co-driving in the Rally America Series.

The Baker Motorsport Team will be based in Yarra Glen for the Rally of Melbourne, with generous support from local business, including “Autofarm and Engineering” and “ICON”.
