The acclaimed Border Ranges Rally has received a significant boost with well-known brand Brakes Direct committing as the naming rights sponsor.
Â
Brakes Direct is Australia's fastest growing automotive brand, covering the entire market, from trade servicing right up to international motorsport and competition.
Â
The company is already an avid supporter of rally with Australian WRC ace and factory Hyundai pilot, Chris Atkinson, as their current brand ambassador. The rapidly expanding brand has also previously sponsored the International Rally of Queensland, Australia's round of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship.
Â
Brakes Direct spokesman Greg Latham says being he's excited by the upcoming association with the Border Ranges and the event is a great platform for the brand to reach one of its core markets.
Â
"The Border Ranges team has built up a fantastic event over the past couple of years, and we're confident state level rally run at this level of professionalism is an effective way to reach not only competitors, but the general public also," said Greg Latham.
Â
"Rallying is a sport we're passionate about and competitors have always supported Brakes Direct so coming on board Border Ranges Rally is an obvious way to boost our brand and put something back into the sport," he said.
Â
Greg has experienced the Border Ranges Rally as a driver on several occasions and won outright in 2013 but is unable to contest this year's edition due to business commitments.
Â
The Border Ranges Rally is the state of origin of Australian Rallying - hosting rounds of both the Gary's Motorsport Tyres NSW Rally Championship and the Hankook Queensland Rally Championship.
Â
"The combined event will mean a strong entry and the opportunity for Brakes Direct to reach a greater market through one of the best state rallies out there," said Greg.
Â
Clerk of Course for the Brakes Direct Border Ranges Rally, Stephen Davies, says the event has continued to grow over the past few years and 2014 has seen increased interest from competitors and sponsors.
Â
"The 2014 Brakes Direct Border Ranges Rally is shaping as the best ever and the support of Brakes Direct will further bolster the rally," said Stephen Davies.
Â
"There has been strong competitor interest from both NSW and Queensland competitors and I have no doubt the quality of the roads will draw a bumper field this year."
Â
"The stages are in great condition and I'm confident the road selection for the year's running of the Brakes Direct Border Ranges Rally will challenge and thrill competitors."
Â
The Brakes Direct Border Ranges Rally is among the favourite events for many competitors because of its mix of fast and challenging shire road stages, many of which were used in Rally Australia in 2009.
Â
The event is also the final round of the East Coast Classic Rally Challenge - a two round competition designed to showcase the cars from the past in a tightly contested battle.
Â
The Brakes Direct Border Ranges Rally will run on the 2nd-3rd August based in the picturesque rural town of Kyogle just south of the Queensland border.
