Glen Brinkman drove fast and consistently, winning the Coffs Coast Rallysprint by 11 seconds in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. He and co-driver Harvey Smith finished ahead of (near!) veteran Wayne Hoy in a Subaru, who was then nine seconds ahead of his son Clayton (Lancer Evo). Fourth spot went to Steve Arthur in his first outing in the ex-Nathan Quinn Lancer Evo IX, a creditable drive. Real life partners, Bruce McDougall and Kellie Pearce, were sixth and first two-wheel drive in their diminutive Daihatsu Charade, punching well above its weight.

Local Australian Rally Champion, Nathan Quinn, donated $500 to help the first three placegetters make it home after a big day in the forest. The event included three traverses of the stage in the morning, followed by three in the opposite direction in the afternoon. Held in Newry State Forest near Urunga, the roads were dry and dusty with a good firm surface underneath. The humidity and mozzies were a killer! There were 14 entrants and only one DNF, Mick Ellis in his well performing Commodore, which said 'hello' to a stump on the side of the road. No injuries thankfully.
