Pierre Budar, team chief Citroen Racing, spoke in Jyvaskyla about the ongoing work developing the C3 rally cars.

“The aim is to get a different setup potential and to be able to work differently on grip, body control and rolling,” Budar said.

“So with the new parts we are able to have a different balance between spring, let's say metallic and hydraulic parts, we are able to use better to preserve grip and at the same time keep the body control better.

“We are also working on aero changes but it is not ready yet,” he added.

Regarding R5 work, he explained that there are some changes coming to the rear suspension and engine.

“We are supposed to have changes. We are working on the rear suspension and also on the engine.

“Like with the WRC car, it’s about different balance between front and rear in terms of anti-squat and being able to work better on the grip.”

He also explained further, the reasons why Ostberg didn’t come to Finland?

There are a number of changes coming to the Citroen C3 WRC and R5 cars.

“We have a program with Mads, and from his point of view, the car was not ready to fight at the best level here.

“As you know, you need full commitment of the driver here, and he had a feeling that probably he cannot get the same commitment with the car as the others, so he didn't want to have a difficult result here after his very good result last year on WRC.

“He is very demanding in terms of performance on the car, and the R5 car was not ready for it.”
