Complaints by residents in the wine growing Priorat region of south-west Cataluna have forced the organisers of Rally Cataluna, round 12 of the 2016 WRC season, to move away from the region that lies north of the major N420 highway and passes through Falset. Â
Ecological concerns have been expressed by residents. This area has been a popular region for the event since it first moved to the Tarragona area. Â
Missing this year will be the stage which incorporates the popular El Molar hairpin junction. Â
The format of this year’s rally was disclosed at a press conference in Barcelona. The rally will start with a Thursday night super special in Barcelona. Â
Friday will be spent on the gravel stages in the far southern corner of Cataluna. Saturday will be run on asphalt stages to the north of Tarragona, and the final morning, including the famous roundabout stage, south of Falset.  - Martin Holmes
