Silverstone Events, organiser of Classic Adelaide, has announced that a Heads of Agreement has been signed for the world renowned tarmac rally to be conducted in future under the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS), commencing with the 2006 event.
"We have been discussing the matter with CAMS over the past months," stated David Lloyd, Managing Director of Silverstone Events, "and we are pleased to say that we have concluded a long-term agreement which is very positive for the event, its competitors, officials and motor sport fans in general."
"A number of considerations, including costs and insurance cover, have caused us to return to CAMS with its wider international connections and role as the Association Sportif Nationale (ASN) representative of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) for motor sport within Australia."
Chairman of CAMS' Australian Rally Commission, Garry Connelly, also expressed pleasure at the decision.
"Classic Adelaide is a hallmark event on the Australian motor sport calendar and we are delighted to be working with Silverstone to ensure the continuing success of the event within the CAMS environment. We look forward to Classic Adelaide reaching even greater heights into the future."
The 2006 Classic Adelaide will be held from November 15-19.
