Forestry roads and trails around Yarraman will be set alight on October 13. Although the action will be red hot, it won’t be bush fires causing the excitement. The Northern Districts Sporting Car Club will be hosting their classic car rally.
The rally, which will be based out of the Yarraman Showgrounds and run in the surrounding forests, is set to be one of the most action-packed rallies on the 2007 calendar.
A myriad of vehicles have been entered and onlookers can expect to be thrilled by vehicles from the high flying modern Subaru WRX’s through to the ever spectacular high powered two-wheel drives from the early 1970s and ‘80s.
Former Australian Rally Champion and South East Queensland resident, Murray Coote, will be driving a borrowed Datsun 240K GT.
All the serious rally action will take place in the forests close to Yarraman with three great spectator locations for people to get up close and personal with the rally cars and their stars. Anyone wanting obtain spectator information can visit the club web site www.ndscc.asn.au or go to rally headquarters at the Yarraman Show Grounds.
The rally will start at the Yarraman showgrounds at 9.00am with all the rally action taking place during daylight hours. The rally will finish at the Yarraman showgrounds with the majority of teams opting to stay the night to enjoy the local hospitality. People are encouraged to come and have a look at the teams and their cars, as well as venture out to the nearby spectator location to get a taste of the high horsepowered, turbo charged action.
