With his 2007 rally plans still not locked away, Cody Crocker was playing things close to his chest yesterday.

Although it is widely expected that the 2006 Asia Pacific Champion will return to defend his title this year, Crocker wasn’t giving too many details away, except for the fact that his campaign will start at the second round of the championship in New Zealand, and that he’ll have a brand new Subaru Impreza WRX at his disposal.

RallySport Magazine understand that Subaru Singapore will help fund the program, which will again be run by the Les Walkden Rally Team, while a second car will be driven by a Singapore driver.

In recent weeks Crocker has been busy helping other drivers as they prepare to start their 2007 campaigns. The three-time Australian Champion has been in Dunedin (NZ) helping Emma Gilmour with the set-up of her Impreza WRX, and he has done the same for 2006 team-mate, Eli Evans, who will drive a Subaru in this year’s Australian Championship.

Crocker also spent time with young Victorian speedster, Brendan Reeves, who will also contest the ARC this year, using a Les Walkden Rallying car – the Impreza driven by Eli Evans in last year’s Asia Pacific Championship.

After contesting the Lake Mountain Sprint and Rally Tasmania tarmac events so far this year, Crocker’s next competitive outing will be in the Bathurst 12 Hour race, where he will share a factory-backed Impreza with Australia’s WRC star, Chris Atkinson, and former Subaru Rally Team Australia team-mate, Dean Herridge.
