The Gawler Showgrounds Special Stage of Scouts Rally SA has received a boost, with Main North Renault coming on board as sponsors for the stage, to be run on August 2.

The stage, which will now be known as the Main North Renault Super Special, is a fast 1.1km mix of dirt and bitumen run around the Gawler Showgrounds complex.

Racing at Gawler Showgrounds starts on Saturday, August 2, with competitors fighting for supremacy under lights in two stages around the Main North Renault Super Special.

On Sunday 3 August, competitors will tackle the Main North Renault Super Special one more time before the 10 fastest competitors around the Gawler Showgrounds battle it out for the inaugural Gawler Cup.

The Main North Renault Super Special will bring competitors from the East Coast Bullbars Australian Rally Championship, the 4WD National Rally Series, the Australian Side by Side Rally Challenge, the Classic Rally Challenge and the South Australian Rally Championship together with competitors in all categories able to take home the Gawler Cup.

Scott Pedder will be hoping that Main North Renault’s involvement is a good omen for him. The Renault Clio pilot was in dominant form at the last round of the ECB ARC, International Rally of Queensland, and will be hoping a good result at Scouts Rally SA will help him catch up to current leader Brendan Reeves in the championship.

“I really like coming to Scouts Rally SA, and with the Main north Renault Super Special it’ll feel like a home event!” joked Pedder, who is currently just 16 points behind Reeves for championship honours. “It certainly gives extra incentive to be the first winner of the Gawler Cup.”

Main North Renault will add to the atmosphere at Gawler, which already features Fresh 92.7 MCs and give aways, Sammy D Foundation’s Big Night Out bus, and the local Gawler community.

Tickets are available now from VenueTix and www.scoutsrallysa.com.au.

“We love motorsport at any level but watching Scott Pedder pushing his Renault Clio RS to the limit is pretty special and it’s all here in South Australia” said Damien Rafferty, Main North Renault Sport Specialist.

“Having enthusiastic supporters like Main North Renault behind the Gawler Showgrounds stage is a huge boost for the event,” said Ivar Stanelis, Clerk of Course, Scouts Rally SA. “The team at Main North Renault are very enthusiastic about the sport and Scouts Rally SA, and we hope this is the start of a long term relationship.”

Scouts Rally SA will be the fourth round of the 2014 East Coast Bullbars Australian Rally Championship and the third round of the 2014 South Australian Rally Championship. It will be held on the roads surrounding Gawler, Mount Crawford, Mount Barker and the Barossa Valley 1, 2, 3 August 2014.
