A strong field of competitors will contest round four of the Rallycross Australia Championship at Winton Motor Raceway this weekend.

Former Australian Rally Champion, Justin Dowel, heads the list in the all-wheel drive category, with strong competition from Steve Glenney, Darren Windus and Will Orders.

The wheel-to-wheel action on the new Winton rallycross track promises to give spectators plenty of exciting action over the weekend.

Three classes of cars will compete. Along with the all-wheel drive category, there is also a two-wheel drive class, and one for Hyundai Excels.

Arron Windus heads the list of likely winners in 2WD, while Troy Dowel, Michael Conway, Matt Lee and Craig Jarvie are all likely front-runners.

Troy Dowel, son of Justin, has recently returned home from another stint at the RX Academy in Finland.

There are five cars entered in the Excel series, headed by experienced drivers Neil Schey and Hayden Taylor.

The newly built eight turn 1.3km circuit utilises the ‘old’ start-finish line and runs through the pair of right-hand corners before veering onto the infield.

The circuit is expected to be the fastest on the calendar with multiple overtaking opportunities, including a dirt ‘joker lap’ section.
