- The first gravel Rally Sprint in WA for nearly a decade.
On December 11th 2010, Rally Action Driver Training (RADT) will host a gravel rally sprint, the first in WA since 2001.
The RADT Eagles Nest Rally Sprint is a CAMS Stage 2 Rally Sprint that will be held entirely on private property near the wheat belt town of Dowerin. Competitors do not need to hold a civil driver’s license and cars do not need to be road registered either. Whilst the minimum of a CAMS Clubman Rally License (driver & navigator) is required to compete, any vehicle that complies with Schedule R (and Schedule J- Roll cages) is able to enter.
Clerk of Course Karl Drummond commented on the event:” We have put in a huge amount of work to make our inaugural event enjoyable. Rally Sprints are a great way of getting into rallying or testing cars and skills in a more relaxed atmosphere than a state or clubman rally. With the time of year and lesser eligibility requirements from a full rally, we’re hoping to appeal to a larger competitor base. Junior drivers are also able to compete, so it’s a great opportunity for younger aspiring rally competitors to have a go.”
The RADT Eagles Nest rally sprint will utilise stages of approximately 6.5 -7.5km each. The stages will be run in both directions, giving a competitive distance of around 30km for a $250.00 entry fee. The stages are a mix of tight/twisty and open sections, mostly with a hard packed clay/gravel base. As the field is limited to just 30 entries, competitors will need to get in early to ensure a place.
