Three time Australian Rally Championship winners and current Australian Champions, Eli Evans and Glen Weston, are set to tackle a new challenge in 2016 when they will spearhead DS Team China in the 2016 Chinese Rally Championship.

Evans and Weston will contest the six event championship in a 2WD Citroen DS3 as part of a two car team alongside Chinese driver Cheng Zifeng.

Commenting on the change team manager Ron Cremen said: “I am very pleased to have Eli and Glen remain with Citroen under the DS Brand in China.

“As in all new programs the challenges will be great and the competition strong with around 100 competitors lining up for each round on the gravel, tarmac and snow covered surfaces that make up the CRC.”

DS Team China will have full support from the DS factory in China as the team looks towards the future in running a locally produced car in the region that will also host rounds of the APRC and WRC events during 2016.

Additional support for the program has come from the APRC winning tyre manufacture MRF, as the brand looks to move into the Chinese market with its proven gravel tyre, as well as developing a new tarmac and snow tyre for later rounds.

“Having had success in Australia in the past, I am very excited at the chance to compete overseas,” Eli Evans said.

“This has now become a reality with DS Team China in one of the world’s biggest markets. Glen and I look forward to working with the team and the new challenge ahead.”
