Entries for the 2017 East African Safari Classic Rally open on August 1st. Though the eighth running of this thrilling event through the African wilderness will not take place until the end of next year, two-time Safari winner, Tuthill Porsche, reminds potential participants that time is of the essence to guarantee an entry and ensure effective preparation.

"There are just sixty places available on this exceptional event and eligibility has been widened to include FIA-homologated rally cars up to 1985," says Richard Tuthill. "The last Safari was fully booked a year before the start and we expect the next one to be equally popular. Those who wish to experience the wonders of African rallying should contact us to discuss their entries as early as possible.

"The 2015 Safari ran for 4,000 kilometres over eight days of driving with a rest day in the middle. Entry fees have been reduced for overseas competitors, with rumours of a new route to reinvent the challenge for 2017. These factors are likely to encourage many new entrants. Our rally cars must ship from the UK in August next year, which gives us just twelve months to prepare all of our Porsches, parts and participants.

"Safari is considered one of the world’s toughest rallies, but it is also a social event. Combined with a huge sense of adventure, this is what makes it so wonderful and I would go as far to say there is no event like it! Our focus is providing clients of all levels the opportunity to enjoy this potentially life-changing experience in the best possible way, with full support and surrounded by enthusiastic, committed people who share the same passion. The fact that one can be in the same team as World Rally Champions is a major benefit, as they bring to the team a vast wealth of experience at the highest level.

"Our preparations are already well under way and the excitement is beginning to build. I honestly can’t wait to be back in Mombasa, to start another Safari Rally!"

The 2017 East African Safari Classic Rally takes place from November 23rd to December 1st, 2017.
