Chris Ingram made his long awaited return with a top 10 finish on Rally Internazionale del Casentino in Italy last weekend – a planned warm-up for Rally di Roma Capitale.
The Brit is set to resume his FIA ERC Junior Under 28 Championship bid this weekend at the Rome based event.
Ingram hadn’t rallied since early May when illness forced his withdrawal from Rally Islas Canarias, but he was back competing again in his Toksport WRT ŠKODA Fabia R5, coming home one place ahead of team-mate Orhan Avcioǧlu in eighth overall, a strong performance after several weeks of inactivity.
Two of Ingram’s ERC Junior U28 rivals were also in action with Nikolay Gryazin narrowly missing out on victory by 12.7s in second position following an earlier puncture and Rhys Yates completing the top 15.
Three-time European champion Luca Rossetti had been leading but crashed on the final stage to hand victory to Alessandro Re in a similar Fabia R5.
