Round two of the newly formed Americas Rallycross Championship will be held this Saturday with its North American race debut at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
Following the series' inaugural race at Silverstone in the UK, Subaru Rally Team USA is fielding three Subaru WRX STI supercars, with Chris Atkinson and Patrik Sandell being joined by Travis Pastrana.
The Circuit of the Americas track is short with some narrow sections and ultimately challenging.
Conditions will be hot, it will be dusty, and close battles are guaranteed.
"It's really exciting to be back in the USA and heading to COTA for the first ever round of ARX in the USA,” Aussie Chris Atkinson said.
“We got our first taste of the track at the test day last week and are working hard to make sure we have a fast setup come race day.”
“The competition is really close and it is going to be an action packed day of racing in the Texas heat,” Atkinson concluded.
Travis Pastrana is also extremely excited to step back into the Subaru rallycross car for the first time in a number of years.
“I’m so excited to get in the new Subaru RX car after almost two years,” he said.
“The test was epic and made me feel like a kid the first time I ever rode a dirt bike. I will have an ear-to-ear grin this entire event. With any luck we will have a solid performance,” he concluded.
All qualifying and finals will be broadcast live on Facebook on the ARX page.
