Reigning European champion, Kajetan Kajetanowicz, and previous year’s event winner, Alexey Lukyanuk, were issued with rarely imposed suspended championship points penalties for pre-event misdemeanours at Rally Estonia.
Alexey Lukyanuk in action in Rally Estonia 2016.The pair are currently lying first and second in the 2017 ERC standings.
Kajetanowciz was blamed for causing a collision in the Service Park with another competitor and also for travelling at 26km/h over the regulatory speed limit. Â
Lukyanuk disobeyed instructions of a marshal who did not allow him to drive the Free Practice stage at a time after the stage was closed.Â
Points gained at Rally Estonia will be forfeited if the crews involved commit a similar offence during the rest of the 2016 season. Both crews also received a financial penalty.
