A R5 specification Ford Fiesta is set to hit the New Zealand Rally Championship stages before the end of the 2017 season. Eyvind Brynildsen driving his Fiesta R5 at Rally Sweden in 2016.Young up-and-coming driver Max Bailey will drive the car that is being brought into the country by former New Zealand Rally Champion, Neil Allport. The Fiesta R5 was previously driven by Norwegian Eyvind Brynildsen. The car was originally scheduled to make its NZ debut at the next round of the NZRC in Coromandel, however, shipping delays have that now looking unlikely. The next round of the NZRC will feature a bumper field, headed by WRC star Hayden Paddon, who'll be back behind the wheel of Hyundai New Zealand's i20 AP4+ for the first time since Rally Whangarei last year. Australian Brendan Reeves will also compete in Force Motorsport's new Mazda2 AP4. - Peter Whitten
