In a joint statement from the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) and the International Rally of Queensland, it has been confirmed that the co-driver of a car competing in the 2013 event has died in a crash this morning.
An incident involving a Queensland Rally Championship entrant occurred during Stage 14 of the event on Sunday near Imbil, South West of Gympie on the Sunshine Coast.
As a result of the accident, the co –driver is deceased and the driver was injured and flown to Royal Brisbane Hospital.
Queensland Police attended the scene. CAMS and the International Rally of Queensland will continue to assist relevant authorities in this matter.
