Formaz Escort resurfaces after 30-year hibernation

One of the most popular rally cars in Victoria in the mid-1980s has resurfaced, with its driver, Terry Harris, reminiscing about his memorable 1985 season in the sport.

The Dazda was a feature of the Group G era of the early 1980s, but it wasn’t just Datsun’s favourite that was powered by a Rotary engine.

While Barry Lowe and Hugh Bell became synonymous with Mazda-engined rear-wheel drive rockets, Victorian Terry Harris proved that the tiny Wankel engine could be just as effective in a Ford Escort.
