Rally Australia has announced that Graham Fountain has resigned his position as chairman and director of Rally Australia Pty Ltd.

Fountain, the former CEO of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport, and who became chairman of Rally Australia last year, has departed after he resigned from his job as CEO of Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade last week.

Fountain quit the fire service following allegations of unfair treatment by a female member of staff with whom he was reportedly having an affair.

The Australian newspaper reported CCTV in the fire brigade headquarters had recorded events which supported the lady’s allegations.

Ben Rainsford will replace Fountain as acting chairman of Rally Australia Pty Ltd.

Rally Australia will be held from September 8-11 next year.
