French motorsport website, Autohebdo, is reporting of Ford’s official return to the World Rally Championship. The article reads: ‘according to our information, Ford is preparing to officially return to the WRC by supporting M-Sport.’

A fan's impression of what the logo may look like.

If the article is correct, it would satisfy five-time world champion, Sebastien Ogier’s wish for a return by the manufacturer, making his return to Malcolm Wilson’s team much more likely. Yes, they do already support M-Sport with technical assistance, but a fully fledged return has not yet been formally announced. The article reports that the recent withdrawal of Ken Block's Ford World Rallycross program has freed up the cash to spend on the WRC program. Brought to our attention by Twitter page, 'Opens & Tightens,' the article is to the point. It also had a former Ford of Europe Motorsport manager replying with lips sealed. https://twitter.com/WRCgerardquinn/status/928364118213570570 Look out for an announcement in the next couple of weeks if this is in fact the case. For now though, we will continue to speculate and hope. https://www.instagram.com/p/BbQOxh5lqM1/ The Autohebdo article can be found here.
