New Zealander Wayne Christie is set to become the President of the influential FIA Rally Commission.
The news was announced on December 8th at the FIA’s Annual General Assembly.
This is seen as a consequence of a change in the FIA Statutes that the age limit of 75 now has to apply to all FIA bodies and to the deputies of the members of the World Councils.
This ruling sidelines fellow New Zealander, Morrie Chander, from continuing to hold an office.
Christie comes from the South Island of his country and currently is President of the Motor Sport New Zealand board.
It is believed that his experience is concentrated on motor racing activities and not rallying.
