All four WRC teams are to compete with World Rally Cars on the non-aligned Shell Helix Rally Estonia on July 12-14.
The event is uniquely being billed as an “Official WRC Promotional Event”.
Toyota’s Ott Tanak, Citroen’s Esapekka Lappi, M-Sport’s Elfyn Evans will compete, as will both Craig Breen and Andreas Mikkesen in Hyundais.
The strength of entry is a major boost to this event, which stands alone with a special status in the traditional hierarchy of the sport. It is one of several non-championship events which provide teams with extra testing opportunities.
It is also one of the fastest rallies in Europe – almost as fast as Neste Rally Finland, but without the high number of jumps.
Estonia’s international rally prestige took off with the career of Markko Martin – and is on a current high with the success of Ott Tanak and the presence of facilities of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Team rallying activities.
The event's Rally Director is the former WRC driver Urmo Aava.
