Former Targa Tasmania winner, Steve Glenney, will return to the driver’s seat this May when he tackles Australia’s toughest tarmac rally.

Steve Glenney (R) and fellow Targa Tasmania front-runner, Jason White. The winner of the 2008 event hasn’t had much luck in Targa Tasmania in recent years, but has confirmed that he’ll return to Tasmania this year to try and win the event for a second time.

The Nissan GT-R that he has driven in recent seasons has had a new gear set fitted after last year’s failure, and with the car undergoing testing in Adelaide, he’s confident of a good showing.

“I’ve been in the co-driver’s seat for a while, so it will be good to get back behind the wheel again,” Glenney said.

“Jason White will have his rebuilt Lamborghini Gallardo at the event, and if we can encourage Tony Quinn to run his new Lambo, then it will be a great battle at the pointy end.”

Glenney’s most recent success came co-driving for Tasmanian Eddie Maguire in last November’s Targa High Country, where they finished first in a Lancer Evo 9.

He will contest Targa Tasmania with his regular co-driver, Bernie Webb.
