Privateer Steve Glenney and co-driver Bernie Webb have taken their first win in an Australian Rally Championship round, by taking out the second day of Toyota Rally of South Australia.

The South Australians led home a Subaru 1-2 in the event, with Dean Herridge second and Neal Bates third in the first Toyota. Herridge was just 1.9 seconds behind Glenney, who made up over five seconds on Glenney on the final stage of the event.

Another privateer, Will Orders, followed Bates home in his best ARC result to date, in a car running in the BP Ultimate Challenge and on pump fuel - a remarkable effort.

Simon Evans struggled with dramas early in the day (including having the bonnet fly up and hit and windscreen after he forgot to put the bonnet pins back in!) but recovered to finish in sixth place, behind another privateer, Stewart Reid, but it was a dismal day for Heat 1 winner Scott Pedder, who blew a turbo on the first stage of the day and eventually finished 25th.

Glenney is now hoping for some additional funding so that he can contest the final event of the championship in Melbourne in a month's time. The Rally of Melbourne offers crews double points, and only 21 points separate Evans, Bates and Herridge going into that event.

Final Results, Heat 2:

1. Steve Glenney, Subaru, 49m36.9s

2. Dean Herridge, Subaru, +1.9s

3. Neal Bates, Toyota, +10.8s

4. Will Orders, Subaru, +33.4s

5. Stewart Reid, +1m24.2s

6. Simon Evans, +1m28.4s
