The first round of the Buckby Subaru Challenge took place at Mathinna in Tasmania last weekend.

Nic Grave and Scott Spedding to the RS Challenge win.A field 12 Subaru Impreza RS’ competed over 10 stages, with many tarmac competitors making the switch across to gravel.

The stages in and around Mathinna proved extremely changeling for new and experienced competitors alike, with quite a few of the field having minor off-road excursions, but with very minimal damage and only one mechanical failure.

A great day of rallying was had with the consensus that the cars where a lot of fun, and the field looks like being super competitive in the coming events.

North West boy, Nic Grave and navigator Scott Spedding, won the inaugural event, taking home the Buckby Subaru Challenge Trophy.

Tasmania’s North West hosts the next round on May 20.
