A quality field of 42 runners will line up for the 2016 Brakes Direct Border Ranges Rally next Saturday, August 27.
Comprising the closely fought MRF Tyres Queensland Rally Championship, the Zupp Property Group Classic Rally Challenge and Rallytorque Escort Challenge, competitors and spectators are champing at the bit to get started and enjoy what has become one of the best events in the country.
Heading the MRF Tyres QRC field will be the Ryan Smart / John McCarthy Lancer Evo 9, who will be chased hard by points leader Kent Lawrence / James Wilson in their Evo 8. Peter Roberts / Andrew Cowley in their highly developed Evo 6 will be very quick and keen to spoil the QRC party.
The Classics and Escort Challenge boasts an exciting race and leading the way will be the awesome Audi Quattro S1 of Mal Keough / Pip Bennett, the V8 Opel Manta of Jack Monkhouse / Kate Catford and New Zealand ace and Derek Ayson in an Escort and his Aussie caller Cate Kelly.
Peter Leight has entered his Nissan 240RS with New Zealander Cassidy Solomon on the co-driving duties.
Spectators will be treated to the famous Hillyards Spectator point with the first car due at 10:30am with another opportunity at Toonambar from noon and an under lights finale in the Kyogle Showgrounds.
The field will be lined up at 8:30am in Geneva Street, Kyogle where onlookers can get up close to the cars and crews where the first car is scheduled to depart at 9:30am.
