Gronholm to retire?

After recent speculation on whether or not he will contest the WRC next year, Finnish rally star Marcus Gronholm has confirmed he will make a decision about retirement after this weekend's Rally Finland.

Gronholm recently stated that he finds the number of events and the travelling a bit too much.  He told a Spanish newspaper, "I have wanted to take advantage of thse days off to rest (during the mid-season break), to meditate on it and after the Rally of Finland, I will make a decision.  It is difficult to leave it when you are doing well, but it is very hard being abroad all the time.  There are too many rallies and the ideal would be 12 or 14 events at most. Nobody has really complained about these things since Carlos Sainz."

When questioned about what he might do in the future if he does retire from WRC competition, Gronholm said that "while you can never say never", it was unlikely he would follow the likes of Sainz and Colin McRae in contesting events like the Dakar Rally.
