At the Polokwane Rally, the finale of the South African Rally Championship, Hergen Fekken and Pierre Arries in the Volkswagen Polo S2000 took third place. Only 5.5 seconds separated the two South Africans from victory after 16 special stages.
Their Volkswagen brand colleagues were struck by misfortune: Giniel de Villiers, Jan Habig and Enzo Kuun had to end the rally early after retirements.
