South Australian youngster, James Rodda, is ready for his second year of rallying, and gives us some details on his plans for the 2007 season.

The Daihatsu-mounted Rodda is aiming to make a name for himself this year.

Name: James Rodda (Rally Power Motorsport)

Co-driver: Lisi Phillips

Car: 1994 Daihatsu Charade (P1)

What were your best results in 2006?
My best rally result was managing to finish the South Australian ASP Kuitpo Forest Rally in 11th overall and first in the P1 class. I also finished fifth outright in both the Clubman Series and the Walkerville All Cars Club (WACC) Rallysprint Series.

What events do you plan on contesting in 2007?
After having a lot of fun and gaining valuable experience competing on my “L’s” at the ASP Kuitpo Forest Rally, I plan to be competing in a full SARC season, and full Clubman series, as well as the WACC Rallysprint and Southern Districts Car Club Khanacrosses.

Are you doing any modifications to your car in preparation for this season?
Yes, I hope to get a little seam welding done to strengthen the Charade’s chassis’s weak points plus remove more unnecessary weight. Some more modifications to bring more power from the 1.3 litre engine would be great, but it just depends if we can obtain new sponsors for 2007. I’m also looking at having a little more underbody protection.

What are your goals and ambitions for this year?
My goal for the season is to gain more experience competing in rallies and I’m aiming at setting times close to some of the P2 cars, while getting the car home in one piece. It would be great to finish highly in the Clubman series in 2007, after coming very close to a top four result last year if it wasn’t for our first DNF in the last round.

Who are your sponsors for 2007?
MJP Automotive, Isaacs Auto Electrical, Meadows Vet Surgery, and our new sponsors so far for 2007, Electronic Imagination and Revolution Racegear (SA)
